New Kaiser Collections

Two new collections from Kaiser have arrived at Scrapbook Fantasies and Alicia asked me to do some display pages with them.  I really enjoyed working with both of these ranges.

CSI File #21

I am enjoying the CSI challenges, and they really are a challenge.  It is like a creative treasure hunt and at the end you have completed a page.  I used Hydrangea Liquid Pearls from Ranger to create my title and mimic icing on this page.

Evidence - flowers, lacy border, layers, add "icing" (liquid pearls title), pins, fabric
Testimony - two different perspectives (mine and the godparents), inspiration word "Celebrate"

This is CSI File #21:

Kaiser Saturday Sketch #4 May

Kaiser publish a new sketch each Saturday on their blog and challenge customers to use it.  I really like these sketches as it gives me an opportunity to dig into my stash and use some of my favourite Kaiser ranges and embellishments.  I have once again mixed together a couple of ranges.  The photograph is of my brother, Neville helping to prepare Christmas Breakfast at my daughters home.

This is the Kaiser Saturday Sketch #4 for May:

Bo Bunny May Sketch

Alicia found this Bo Bunny Sketch Challenge for me and I have really enjoyed putting it together.  The photographs are of Noah playing in the dockets printed after one of the Scrapbook Fantasies Retreats a few years ago.  The docket printer didn't go to the Retreat, so when it was hooked to the computer on our the Monday morning it spat out every docket from every sale over the weekend which amounted to a full garbage bag (and there was no way to stop it).  My garden enjoyed the extra paper mulch this created.

And this is the sketch:

It's A Celebration

I want to share a layout I have created about my daughters 13th Birthday Party.  I have made the flowers, the wreath and banner from ribbons and trims.  I have also lined the lantern with mesh ribbon and diecut a bird and bird cage as well.  I was inspired to create all these handmade embellishment by a challenge presented in the latest edition of Scrapbooking Memories Magazine.

Rhythm and Repetition

This week at the Aussie Scrap Source Blog they are discussing Rhythm and Repetition.  I took the challenge and this is the layout I have created using a photograph of Noah liking Chocolate off of his fingers.

And this is the sketch from the article that I used:

Even if you don't have a go at the challenge it is well worth reading the information presented by the team at Aussie Scrap Source, as it is invaluable design advice.

The Color Room Palette #112

I really enjoy doing the challenges at the Color Room.  They are called a palette, and involve the use of a sketch and a colour scheme.  I really love this photograph of Noah, it is just him all over.

This is my interpretation of the Palette #112:

And this is the Palette I had to work with:

I was looking at my first take on Palette #111 and realised that my chosen colours were a bit too bright. I wasn't going to worry about it, but it got the better of me and I have created this layout using the palette again.  I have worked out that the combination of my poor eyesight (age will do that to you) and the lenses in my new classes change the way colours look at night. Hence I try not to choose colours at night anymore.  So here is my second attempt at Palette #111, and my original post is here.

Scrapbook Fantasies - Weekly Challenge #22/2012

It's that time of the week again when another challenge is released on the Scrapbook Fantasies Blog.  This weeks challenge is to create a layout using Distressing.  As you all know by now I love Distressing, and use it on all of my layouts.

This is the layout I have created for this challenge using Distressing:

A Layout about my Mum

This is a layout I created about my Mum, Julia.  The photograph was taken at my Wedding and the man on the left is my Dad, Edison.  The lady in the background is his late husbands Mother, Jean.  I do miss my Mum very much as she passed in 1976.

My layout got featured

I don't like to skite, as it is a bit of a bad trait to have.  But my layout got featured on the Aussie Scrap Source Blog.  This is my original post about my layout: here.  And this is where it is featured on the Aussie Scrap Source Blog: here.  I just want to thank the girls at Aussie Scrap Source for their wonderful design feature, challenges and featuring my layout.

Just a Few Layouts to Share

This will be quite a long post as I have a few layouts to share.

This first layout is inspired by a beautiful canvas created by Nadia Cannizzo using the Prima April Build A Page.  Nadia's piece was selected as a featured project and displayed on the Prima Blog (here).  The quote and the style of the piece spoke to me and I wanted to include it in my albums.  I have coloured the flowers and background with Glimmermist.

This layout is about the daughter of a very special friend of mine.  Katrina wasn't meant to survive the first years of her live, and last year she graduated High School.  This photograph was taken on the day of her Prom in December last year.  I was inspired by the Asymmetrical part of the Aussie Scrap Source Balance post on their blog.  I had a ball splashing Radiant Rain liquid around on the background and creating in a style that is more my daughter than myself.

This card I am sharing next was created by my good friend Sharon (Katrina's Mum).  I gave Sharon the challenge to create a card using the Color Room Palette #107 after she admired my layout (here).

I have created this layout using a Kaiser Saturday Sketch from some time ago, however I don't know when as I didn't write that down when my daughter gave it to me.

The layouts and card that follow have been created using the May Competition Kits from Scrapbook Fantasies.  I last layout was actually created using the leftovers from the Card Kit, with the only addition being a sheet of Kraft Cardstock.

Once Upon A Sketch - May 2012

I am very excited and honoured to announce that along with the rest of the Scrapbook Fantasies Design Team I am a Guest Designer over at Once Upon A Sketch this month.  It has been very hard not to share my layout as I am very proud of it.  The challenge each month at Once Upon A Sketch is based on a theme and a matching sketch created by the very talented Nadia Cannizzo.

The theme this month is: Mum

And this is the sketch:

This is the layout I created with the theme and the sketch:

I themed my layout around how proud I am of my daughter and how she is a good Mum, just like I hope I was to her and her brother.

Scrapbook Fantasies is also one of the sponsors at Once Upon A Sketch in May.  The prizes that they have donated are:

TWO ribbon packs (for two winners), each valued at over $40 (Australian) and containing 71 half metre lengths of ribbons, trims and lace in shades of pink, brown, cream and gold from quality brands such as Prima, Maya Road, Websters Pages, May Arts, Vandoros, Green Tara and Birch Australia.  The prize also includes international postage.

Kaiser Saturday Sketch #3 May

Kaiser publish a new sketch each Saturday on their blog and challenge customers to use it.  I really like these sketches as it gives me an opportunity to dig into my stash and use some of my favourite Kaiser ranges and embellishments.  I have mixed a couple of ranges in my creation with this weeks sketch.

This is the Kaiser Saturday Sketch #3 for May:

And this is the layout I created after turning the sketch on its side:

CSI File #20

I am really enjoying the CSI challenges, as they aren't just a colour scheme.  They also involve the use of certain design elements and journaling.  I really stretched myself with this one as I made a snail and some mushrooms from supplies I had in my stash.  The snail is created with felt, jewels and buttons, and the mushrooms are printed epoxy circle stickers cut down with felt stems and jewel spots.

This is the CSI file:

And this is the layout that I created with it:

The Evidence I have used is mushrooms (created by cutting epoxy circle stickers and adding jewels), a felt snail, kraft background and the staggered heights of flowers and mushrooms.

The Testimony is my journaling written in a trail along the top of my page

The Color Room - Palette #111

I really enjoy doing the challenges at the Color Room.  They are called a palette, and involve the use of a sketch and a colour scheme.  I had some trouble with this palette as I wanted to use the yellow flowers, which didn't work until I added the red feathers and flowers.  My colour choices turned out a little brighter than I had wanted, but then scrapbooking does have a habit of taking on a life of its own.

This is the palette I worked with:

And this is what I created with it:

Scrapbook Fantasies - Weekly Challenge #21/2012

It's that time of the week again when another challenge is released on the Scrapbook Fantasies Blog.  This weeks challenge is to create a layout using a Song Title as the title and inspiration for a layout, as well as mentioning it in the journaling.

This is the layout I have created with the old School Days song:

Symmetrical Page Design

The girls at the AussieScrapSource Blog are running a series on Page Design at the moment.  This week Balance was the principle discussed, and the difference between Symmetrical and Asymmetrical creations.  I decided to have a go at their challenge and create a layout using one of the sketches provided.

This is the sketch I chose to portray in a Symmetrical style, even though I have completely altered it and made it my own:

And this is the layout I created with it:

Sketchbook 365 Challenge

I created this page using the June Sketch over at Sketchbook365, which is hosted by Scrap365 Magazine.  I have used pictures from the Fireworks display at last years Gladstone Harbour Festival.

This is the sketch:

And this is the layout that I created:

I also wanted to thank my daughter (Alicia) for helping me to set-up my new blog design from The Cutest Blog on the Block.

CSI File #19

I am still really enjoying the challenges over at CSI (Color, Stories, Inspiration).  You get a colour palette and some other instructions to follow (including journaling) for the creation of your layout.  It is definately a challenge, but you know how much I love a good challenge.

This is the file for this week:

This is the page I created:

The Color Room Palette #110

This is the page I have created using the current palette from the Color Room.  I used photographs from my only Granddaughter, Naomi-Jon's Seventh Birthday Party.

This is the palette:

And this is my page:

Kaiser Saturday Sketch #2 May

I created this layout using the second Saturday Sketch challenge for the month of May over at the Kaiser Blog.  I enjoyed creating with the new Kaiser Rock Pool range and a photograph of my youngest Grandson (Noah) exploring at Tannum Sands Beach.

This is the Sketch:

And this is the page I created with it:

Sketchbook365 Challenge

I created this page using the May Sketch over at Sketchbook365, which is hosted by Scrap365 Magazine.

Alicia's Card Sketch Challenge - May

Those of you who know me will know that I don't usually make cards.  However, when my daughter (Alicia) gave me this sketch and asked me to create a card as part of my commitment to the Scrapbook Fantasies Design Team, how could I refuse.  You can find the sketch here.

And this is what I created with it:

Scrapbook Fantasies - Weekly Challenge #20/2012

This weeks challenge over at the Scrapbook Fantasies Blog calls for the creation of a layout using at least 25 things.  I created my layout about my granddaughter (Naomi-Jon) and her habit of having a dirty face after she eats.  I have been saving these Making Memories plastic flowers for just the right layout, and this was it.

So if you want to have a go at the challenge and go into the draw to win a voucher from Scrapbook Fantasies head over to the Blog

New Kaiser at Scrapbook Fantasies

There are two new ranges of Kaiser at Scrapbook Fantasies and I have had the opportunity to create some layouts for display with them.  I didn't know what I was going to do at first, but once I got started couldn't stop.  So here is what I have created with the Magnolia Grove and Rock Pool ranges.

I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been leaving lovely comments here on my blog.  I am very flattered and surprised by the response I have received.  So thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
